Lake Ozark lake front homeowners must begin to prepare for the annual Lake Ozark winter drawdown to begin January 1, 2012. Ameren Missouri advises that property owners ought to start preparations to protect their docks from the expected low water levels. The purpose of the drawdown is to create water storage capacity in the lake for the anticipated spring rainy season and potential overflow from flooding.
Phil Thompson, superintendent of Ameren Missouri’s Osage Renewable Energy Center at Bagnell Dam, expects the drawdown to reach the target seasonal low of about 654 feet by February 15, 2012. If you are interested in checking the daily water level, you can obtain regularly updated Ameren Missouri lake level information by telephoning 573.365.9205. Hourly information on lake levels is available online.
Ameren Missouri suggests that dock owners disengage docks, seawalls and piers (and lengthen connecting cables) to allow them to drop with the water level. Lake Ozark lake front homeowners should be aware that water releases from Bagnell Dam into the Osage River may occur at any time.
